Course Description

Student select one of the following options;

1. Translation project (translate a book with 200 pages or more)

2. Thesis (write a thesis with 40,000 words or more)
Works in the Course

Students conduct the following in the Graduation Project I Course:

1. For translation projects:

(1) Search for book to translate;

(2) Select one book to translate;

(3) Write a Translation Project Plan (introduction of the original book, ideas for translating, and translation schedule);

(4) Write a synopsis of the original book.

2. For thesis projects:

(1) Write a thesis summary plan (thesis topic, abstract, schedule)

Learning period and Deadline for Submission

Students must complete learning and submit course material within 6 months after registering for the course.

Guidance for Learning

“Inquiry on your final work” are to be conducted by and to be guided by guidance professor (counselor in charge).

Guidance is conducted via email.
Course Objective (Goal) Determine a title of the thesis or a title of the book to be translated as a graduation project and make its work schedule, summary, and plan.

Learning Outcome

Demonstrate his or her abilities to prepare and write a thesis summary plan (in case that he or she chooses a thesis project) or a translation project plan (in case that he or she chooses a translation project) both of which shall be evaluated as satisfiable by the guidance professor.

Grade Evaluation and Course Requirement

1. Students must submit all material for the course.

2. Submitted material is assessed and an evaluation sheet (contains points and grade earned along with comments) sent to students.

3. Students who earn a grade of B or above successfully pass and are awarded credits for the course.

4. Dean in charge may assess all submitted material.

Guidance Professor BUPST assigns a qualified professor for the graduation project.
Course Description

Students complete their translation project (translation of a book with 200 pages or more) or thesis (40,000 words or more)

Works in the Course

Students conduct the following in the Graduation Project II Course:

(1) For translation projects:

Submit translation divided into 6 sections, submitting one division in one month.

(2) For thesis projects:

Submit thesis in 6 separate sections (one section a month).

Learning period and Deadline for Submission

Students must complete learning and submit course material within 6 months after registering for the course.

Guidance for Learning

Students submit material which is corrected, commented on, and critiqued by the guidance professor. Guidance is conducted via email.

Course Objective (Goal) Write a thesis consisting of 40,000 words or more, or translate a book having 200 pages or more.

Learning Outcome

Demonstrate his or her abilities to prepare and write a thesis (in case that he or she chooses a thesis project) or a translation (in case that he or she chooses a translation project) both of which shall be evaluated as satisfiable by the guidance professor and BUPST Graduation Project Assessment Committee consisting of Dean of each major, Vice Chancellor, and Chancellor.

Grade Evaluation and Course Requirement

1. Students must submit all material for the course.

2. Submitted projects are evaluated by the guidance professor. Next, projects are reviewed by the Assessment Committee, comprised of the dean of each major , vice chancellor and chancellor.

Students are evaluated on: schedule management, choice of source book, translation policy and synopsis, binding and layout, research (background and terminology), translation of title, writing style in target language, understanding of original writing, translation and writing ability, etc.

3. After projects have been reviewed, the Assessment Committee interviews students. Students who do not live close to BUPST offices are interviewed using the video conferencing system Zoom.

4. Students who earn a grade of B or above successfully pass and are awarded credits for the course.
