Course Objective (Goal)

Obtain reading and comprehension skills of various types of complex and lengthy Japanese written contracts and be able to translate it into English. Students will also have writing skills to produce English written contracts at the same level and length.

Learning Outcome Ttranslate accurately and comprehensively Japanese written intermediate level contracts of ordinary length (7 to 9 pages) used in business into English by understanding and becoming familiar with legal terminology, word and idiom usage, writing style, grammar, syntax, semantics, and pragmatics of such intermediate level contracts written in both Japanese and English. Translate at a speed of 250 words per hour (source language).
