Course Description Read Japanese law in English and brush up legal English skills.
Course Policy

Since it is very important for legal translator to read large quantity of legal documents in both Japanese and English, Professor Yoshiharu Ishida was asked to develop the course by Babel University. Professor Ishida developed this lecture course with 16 kinds of law related reading materials such as the reading from the Family Law that is familiar with translators, the Inheritance Law , the Civil Law, the Constitution, the Criminal Law, the Criminal Procedure Code, a Civil Proceedings Act, the Labor Standards Law, Copyright Act, Patent Law, and the Antitrust Law. This lecture course was registered in 2004.

Course Objective Have students obtain increased English legal document reading proficiency through practice translating Japanese laws into English.
Learning Outcome  Students who have successfully completed this course will be able to easily read English-written statues.
Course Progression 1. Read core course material and obtain knowledge on English comprehension and translation techniques
2. Following the instructions, work on practice questions by reading and translating legal text, and submit assignment
3. Listen to audio lecture and use Q&A for any queries
