Course Description Beginner course in English contracts and legal documents

Course Objective (Goal) Obtain reading and comprehension skills of basic English written contracts, conversion skills into Japanese, and writing skills of Japanese-written contracts by using basic textbooks and exercise workbooks.
Learning Outcome  Translate accurately and comprehensively English basic contracts of short length (1 to 2 pages) into Japanese by understanding and becoming familiar with legal terminology, word and idiom usage, writing style, grammar, syntax, semantics, and pragmatics of such basic contracts written in both English and Japanese. Translate at a speed of 250 words per hour (source language).
Course Progression 1. Read core course material and obtain basic knowledge
2. Following the instructions, work on practice questions and submit assignment
3. Listen to audio lecture and use the Q&A for any queries.

Exercise Workbook
Includes 32 types of English contracts and corresponding Japanese translation examples
from ‘Bill of Sales’, ‘Gift’, ‘Sales Order' to ‘Clickwrap License Agreement’. One contract is one to two pages on average, with a minimum of two exercises per lecture.
