Professor Yoshihide Kono

Graduated from Faculty of Law, Tokyo University. Worked 37 years in Mitsubishi Rayon Co., Ltd. Kono was involved in negotiations with foreign companies, issue bonds, technical licenses with foreign companies, establishing consolidation of companies, acquisition of two US companies, establishing, supervising and managing overseas companies. Co-operated with law firms in Tokyo, New York, Los Angeles, London and Hong Kong and drew various kinds of contracts about international businesses. Also worked at searching US dumping, civil suit with US companies, tax issues of US subsidiary and disposal of assets. In charge of the management of overseas related companies at Mitsubishi Rayon. Managing Director of Mitsubishi Rayon's three allied overseas companies.

How this course

was developed

When Babel University Professional School of Translation founded International Paralegal and Legal Translation Major in 2003, the need of the knowledge of the International Transactions and Law was recognized that the graduate school students need it as the background knowledge. Professor Yoshihide Kawano (natively from Mitsubishi Rayon Co., Ltd.), who had great deal of experience in international transaction law, was asked to develop the course by Babel University Professional School of Translation. He produced this lecture course in response to the request. This lecture course was registered in 2004 and was revised in 2008.
