Michiko Takada Graduated from Faculty of Law, Waseda University Worked at International Alliance Judicial Affairs in Toshiba Corp. Mainly covered contract related business, such as alliance contracts negotiation with overseas companies, contracts preparation and examination. Left Tokyo after her marriage and started to study legal translation English-Japanese Law Translation Correspondence Course at Babel Corp. After passing Babel Professional Language Examination, registered herself as a translator and started translation career. Off from work because of her family commitment for a while, now works not only as a translator for legal documents especially for petition and contract but as a monitor for these legal documents. And in charge of "Practical Legal Knowledge for Translators" as well. 。 |

| Feature of the Course |
Learn skills on how to write a summary that is "simple" and that can be "accurately understood ". Develop techniques that can be applied in business practice. Study "Rules to Summarizing Contracts" and learn how to read and analyze contracts when writing a summary. Based on these rules and using actual contracts, study how to summarize with emphasis on "Summarizing by Clause Order" in Lecture 1 and "Summarizing by Content Category" in Lecture 2. Lecture 3 deals with contrasting "Complete Translation" and "Summarization", and Lecture 4 looks at the difference between "Summarizing by Clause Order" and "Summarizing by Content Category". A written summary is required for each lecture putting theory into practice.

- Read "Rules of Summarize Translation Grammar (E-J)" in the Lecture Room.
- Study the Course Text in a row. (Course Text is available in Lecture Room.)
- Listen to audio lecture (Only for Lecture 1 and 2) on MP3 format
- Work on practice questions and self-evaluate.
- Submit assignment (at each lecture).
