Course Name Translation Business Management [Course Syllabus]
Professor Miyoko Yuasa

Born in 1947. Enrolled in the second year of the Master's Course in Philosophy, Graduate School of Letters, Chuo University. In 1974, Yuasa planned and edited 'Translator Training Course' for the correspondence school. 1976, she was a chief editor and launched a monthly magazine 'The World of Translation'. 1977 March, she established the Japan Translator Training Center Ltd., and she became President of the company. At the 10th anniversary in 1987 May, it became Babel Ltd.. Same year, she established the translation section called Babel International. In 1996, Babel Corporation was established in America. In 1997, Yuasa set up Babel Staff and she became Director and currently still is. She is a Chancellor of the Babel University Professional School of Translation, President of Japan Translation Association, Director(former-President) of Japan Association For the Development of Independent Study and General Secretary of Japan Association of Distance Education.

About assignments

(Assignment1)

Your need to write about your business 'ambitions' in summary or issues that could arise during the process, when you start your own business. Between 2,400 to 4,000 words.

(Assignment 2)

Imagine you run your own translation company, and construct the company presentation.
Submission style could be one of the following : Planned draft in MS-Word, Website by HTML, making a brochure with MS-Word or using PowerPoint to make a file for a presentation.


Assignment 1 has to be submitted within two weeks of starting 'Introduction.
Assignment 2 is due within four weeks after you start Lecture 4.

Assignment should be sent from 「Submission form」.
